The New Mexico Environment Department regulates manufacturers of edible cannabis products throughout New Mexico. Our focus is primarily to assure food safety so New Mexicans can enjoy these products with confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are looking to get started in the cannabis business in New Mexico and need to know who to talk to, see our graphic below to understand how the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, New Mexico Environment Department (NMED), and local governments work together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manufacturers of such products must obtain a manufacturer license from the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department\u2019s Cannabis Control Division<\/a> (CCD). Additional permitting, as outlined below, is required for those manufacturing edible cannabis products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Permit Requirements and Deadlines<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cannabis Manufacturers producing edible cannabis products<\/em> must obtain a food permit from the NMED Cannabis and Hemp Bureau (CHB), the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department, or Bernalillo County before operating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facilities located outside the jurisdiction of the City of Albuquerque or Bernalillo County can obtain the NMED-CHB application at the <\/a>Licenses and Permits webpage<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
