Stuffing Preparation

Follow these suggestions to prepare stuffing in a safe manner:
  • If you prepare stuffing ingredients the night before remember to:
    • Keep the wet and dry ingredients separated
    • Store the ingredients in the refrigerator
  • Mix the wet and dry ingredients just before cooking and cook immediately following preparation.
  • Make sure that stuffing is moist before cooking:
    • Heat destroys bacteria more rapidly in a moist environment. (Salmonella becomes resistant to heat if the stuffing is dry).
  • Stuff turkey loosely as this allows heat to be distributed more evenly during the cooking process.
