Examples include old gas stations, vacant motels, former industrial sites or abandoned dumps. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cleaning up and reinvesting in these properties can restore the environment, reduce health risks, eliminate blight, revitalize downtowns, create jobs, increase local tax bases, and create a sense of community pride. View our program <a href=\"https:\/\/cloud.env.nm.gov\/?r=169595&amp;k=76ef6aa0df\">brochure<\/a> for more information about the resources available for brownfields redevelopment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Targeted Brownfields Assessment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NMED offers free environmental evaluations of brownfield properties. Services include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Phase I &amp; II environmental site assessments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Environmental investigations (sampling and analysis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Asbestos and lead paint surveys<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean-up planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remediation cost estimates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Local government units, tribal governments, quasi-public entities (such as community development organizations), and non-profit entities are eligible to request an assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brownfield Clean-up Revolving Loan Fund<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It is usually easier to find funding for redevelopment of a site than for cleanup. NMED offers low-interest loans with favorable terms that can be used for remediating contamination at an eligible brownfield site. The funds may also be used for asbestos removal or abatement. The availability of cleanup funding can leverage the other funding needed \u2013 on average,&nbsp;$17 for every dollar of brownfields funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact us to discuss the eligibility of your project and the application process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technical Assistance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Brownfield redevelopment requires community planning, environmental expertise, public and private partners, and familiarity with a myriad of potential sources of assistance.
