SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

RECYCLING AND ILLEGAL DUMPING FUND GRANT APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED

The New Mexico Environment Department is now accepting additional applications for Recycling and Illegal Dumping Fund Grants for scrap tire management, illegal dumping abatement, and recycling projects until 5:00 PM on Friday, May 5, 2017. Applications may be located under "Grant on Loan Programs."

Funds totalling $403,770 are available to municipalities, counties, tribal governments, land grant communities, cooperative associations, and solid waste authorities. $372,015 of the grant fund is available for scrap tire management, and $31,755 is available for illegal dumping abatement and recycling projects. Ineligible entities are encouraged to partner with eligible entities.

Applicants must be able to complete their projects by June 30, 2018. Multi-year projects may be completed in phases. Matching funds and in-kind contributions are not required but are encouraged.

NOTICE REGARDING FY18 SOLID WASTE FACILITY GRANT APPLICATIONS

The Solid Waste Bureau expects to begin receiving FY18 Solid Waste Facility Grant Applications in April after receiving notice from the Legislature regarding the approval of a final budget. Questions regarding the Solid Waste Facility Grants should be directed to the Solid Waste Bureau Chief, Auralie Ashley-Marx, at (505) 827-2775 and auralie.ashley-marx@state.nm.us.
