We use data analysis to determine if state surface water quality standards are being met and to ensure that designated uses are supported. Standards and designated uses (for example, cold water aquatic life (e.g. trout) or domestic water supply) are established by the New Mexico Water Quality Control Commission (WQCC). Water quality parameters generated are used extensively for reporting obligations to the WQCC and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA).
