2016 TEST SCHEDULE

The application deadline is Wednesday, December 30th, 2015 for the New Mexico Water and Wastewater Association's Annual Short School to be held at Hotel Encanto - 705 S. Telshor Blvd., in Las Cruces on Friday, January 29th, 2016.

NOTE: Test Dates, Locations and Fees are subject to change.

The New Mexico Environment Department’s Surface Water Quality Bureau – Utility Operator Certification Program (Department) is charged with the responsibility of maintaining current records on water and wastewater utility operators in order to determine compliance with the Utility Operator Certification Regulations, which are found in the New Mexico Administrative Code at 20 NMAC 7.4.

In part, the regulations at 20.7.4.20 A. specify that after November 17, 2006 each owner of a public water supply system (PWS) or public wastewater facility shall employ a certified operator(s).

Additionally, at 20.7.4.20 C. the regulations require that the name(s) of the certified operator(s) employed by the facility must be on file at all times with the Department. If the certified operator is replaced, the replacement must be certified at the same level or higher. The owner must notify the Department within ten days of the replacement.

Be sure to list all persons in your employment who are responsible for the operation of your water or wastewater system(s). The information you supply, and routine facility inspections conducted by the Department, will be used to evaluate compliance with the Utility Operator Certification Regulations. The Utility Operator Certification Act, 61-33-1 through 61-33-10 NMSA 1978 grants enforcement authority to the New Mexico Environment Department.
