The New Mexico Environment Department regulates manufacturers of edible cannabis products throughout New Mexico. Our focus is primarily to assure food safety so New Mexicans can enjoy these products with confidence.

Manufacturers of such products must obtain a manufacturer license from the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department’s Cannabis Control Division (CCD). Additional permitting, as outlined below, is required for those manufacturing edible cannabis products.
Permit Requirements and Deadlines
Cannabis Manufacturers producing edible cannabis products must obtain a food permit from the NMED Cannabis and Hemp Bureau (CHB), the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department, or Bernalillo County before operating.
Facilities located outside the jurisdiction of the City of Albuquerque or Bernalillo County can obtain the NMED-CHB application at the Licenses and Permits webpage.
