Recycling and Illegal Dumping (RAID) Grant – New Mexico Environment Department
The Recycling and Illegal Dumping (RAID) Grant supports projects across New Mexico that improve recycling infrastructure, expand waste diversion, and address illegal dumping. The program provides funding to communities, local governments, tribes, and organizations working to strengthen responsible materials management and protect New Mexico’s environment.
Projects funded through RAID help communities reduce landfill waste, improve recycling access, clean up illegal dumping sites, and build long-term waste reduction capacity.
The FY27 RAID Grant cycle will open April 1, 2026.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend the FY27 RAID Grant Workshop, which will provide an overview of the program, funding priorities, eligibility requirements, and application process.

The Recycling and Illegal Dumping (RAID) grant provides funding for preventing and cleaning up illegal dumpsites while promoting environmentally responsible reuse and recycling efforts.
This workshop will provide techniques for crafting a compelling grant application that meets all RAID grant requirements. Participants are encouraged to bring ideas for grant projects to develop during the session.

What the RAID Grant Supports
The RAID Grant funds projects that:
- Expand or improve recycling infrastructure
- Increase waste diversion and materials recovery
- Address and prevent illegal dumping
- Improve community recycling access
- Support public education and outreach on waste reduction
- Strengthen local waste management systems
Projects may include equipment purchases, recycling program expansion, illegal dumping cleanup and prevention initiatives, and community education efforts.

- Landfills and transfer stations
- Nonprofit organizations
- Other entities working on recycling or illegal dumping prevention
