Save time and effort with our updated Air Emissions Calculation Tool (AECT)!

This tool includes our embedded and approved calculations. Simply fill in your variables and the tool calculates your emissions. Save time and effort. Of course, if you would like to submit alternative calculations for our consideration, this tool provides backup check to your calculations.

Effective immediately the Department will revert to the previous version of the Air Emission Calculation Tool (AECT) dated 10AUG18. Going forward please utilize this version of the AECT. The previously posted version dated 20MAR19 requires some additional testing internally. Please disregard the previous deadline to use the 20MAR19 version of the AECT as it is no longer valid.

If you have any questions or comments on the AECT please contact Asheley Coriz at 505-216-2955.

If you have trouble downloading or using the AECT, download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro to fix this problem.  Or you can download the file to your computer and try opening from there.

This version of the AECT incorporates updated equipment forms and improvements based on comments and suggestions from industry, staff, consultants, and applicants.

History of the AECT

During one of the Minor Source meetings back in 2016, the Minor Source staff were brainstorming ideas on how to streamline the permit review processes. Rick suggested a form to calculate engine emissions. This form morphed into this incredibly useful AECT for calculating and reviewing emission from multiple types of emission units with over 130 pages of content.

Rick Poley originally began developing individual emission unit calculation forms using the built-in designer functions in Adobe Acrobat Pro in 2016. Adobe later extracted these functions from Acrobat and incorporated the designer functions into a new Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4 software.  This software enabled the Department to develop an interactive AECT form that can be custom built by the applicant or permit writer based on the specific air emissions equipment for each oil & gas or aggregate processing facility.

The AECT utilizes JavaScript coding for the form design and Formcalc coding for all emissions calculations. It was originally developed to create Department approved emission calculations for the GCP-6, and NOI applications and has been expanded to include GCP-O&G applications as well as GCP-Temporary Control applications. The AECT continues to evolve to accommodate facility equipment changes and operating parameter variations represented in air permitting applications.
