Following public stakeholder meetings, the New Mexico Environment Department and the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department are kicking off our Methane Advisory Panel (MAP) meetings to dive into technical issues related to capturing methane. The MAP process will yield a technical background document related to specific oil and natural gas equipment and processes for consideration moving forward with an enforceable methane regulatory strategy.

Methane Advisory Panel draft technical report

The MAP draft technical report is posted below. The report is open for public review and comment through Feb. 20, 2020. Comments may be submitted to nm.methanestrategy@state.nm.us or mailed to: 1190 St. Francis Dr., Santa Fe, NM 87505, Attn: Sandra Ely.

The topic reports reflect the diversity of perspectives of MAP members and are not consensus reports. MAP members were encouraged to provide a variety of perspectives on these complex topics.
