What is MQSA?

The MQSA, enacted by Congress, sets nationwide standards for mammography to ensure accuracy, safety, and effectiveness. This vital law was reauthorized in 1998 and again in 2004 to maintain and enhance quality standards.

The FDA oversees MQSA regulations and inspections, ensuring facilities meet the highest standards. In New Mexico, we work under contract with the FDA to inspect mammography screening and diagnostic facilities that do not fall under federal authority.
