The Environment Department’s Air Quality Bureau (AQB) operates a network of ambient air monitors that continually sample the air across New Mexico. The AQB does not have jurisdiction over Bernalillo County and tribal lands, and other organizations may monitor there. Links to resources for understanding the monitoring network and retrieving monitoring data are listed below.

  • Ozone monitoring results provides the results of ozone monitoring and other ozone information.
  • 2025 Final Annual Air Quality Monitoring Network Review provides a description of the current NMED air monitoring network. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is reviewing the 2025 Air Quality Monitoring Network Review Plan to ensure it meets the minimum requirements of 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 58 and its appendices. Typically, approval from EPA is received in November, at which time NMED will provide the final approved report on the website.
  • NMED Air Monitoring web site provides current and historic monitoring data for the NMED monitors, including maps, site photos, and custom reports and graphs.
  • AirNow is a partnership between U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and many other agencies to report U.S. Air Quality Index (AQI) and other information throughout the country.
  • City of Albuquerque/Bernalillo Air Quality Division monitors provide measurements of air pollutants and pollen in Bernalillo County.
  • Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program (IWFAQRP) was created to directly assess, communicate, and address risks posed by wildland fire smoke to the public as well as fire personnel.
