Lead Service Line Inventory Instructions
Community and non-transient, non-community public water systems must complete and submit to the state a lead service line inventory by October 16, 2024.
The LCRR requires certain public water systems to identify the service line materials of all service connections in their distribution system regardless of ownership status. The rule determines the minimum information required to be needed in your lead service line inventory, how to communicate about your system inventory, and how often to update the inventory. It may be more useful to the system while conducting their inventory to gather additional or more detailed information than required and we have provided a spreadsheet with required information needed for compliance and a detailed spreadsheet with information we recommend water systems complete and keep on hand to be prepared for customer questions, asset management, or future rule revisions.
Lead Service Line Inventory Status Definitions
| Single Ownership | Single ownership means that the service line is owned entirely by either the public water system or the property owner. There is no shared responsibility for the service line. |
| Split Ownership | Split ownership means that the service line is owned jointly by both the public water system and the property owner. Responsibility for the service line is shared. |

How to submit the lead service line inventory
Download the Microsoft Excel inventory spreadsheet. Save a copy to your computer or network drive. A recommended name example is “LSL Inventory – Pure Water MDWCA NM12345678″.
When the inventory is complete and you are ready to submit to NMED, please email the spreadsheet to lcr.manager@env.nm.gov
Lead Service Line Inventory Customer Notifications
As a reminder, within 30 days of completing the service line inventory systems must notify consumers served by lead, galvanized requiring replacement and unknown service lines.
